The Drewdod story
Do you know how Drewdod Promotions was created.
It’s a very cool story and we’d like to tell you all!
Sitting in the lounge on a beautiful sunny day, The coffee was hot, the biscuits tasted divine
and the music was flowing.
Out of nowhere came this comment, “if you put on a show brother, I will come and play for
you!”
I was shocked, I didn’t know what to do, where to go or how I was even going to produce a
show of any quality let alone have anybody attend who would pay to be there.
I laughed! Well the laughter didn’t do any good! My friend and bass player was serious!!!!
I asked the question, Who will we have?
The answer was “I don’t know but you will find somebody!”
How many would there be in the band? You and me!
We would have a drummer and a bass player which wouldn’t cut it.
What about a name?
What happens if we add people!
Well for a start we could have Sunny and Ter. What about if we ask other people?
We just add their name. For example, if their name starts with G we could be GST.
And what if there was more people? A four piece for example?
We would have GST Inc!!! This eventually morphed into G Stink.
By this time I was rolling on the floor!
It was the funniest thing I had heard in my entire life! However, I stopped and thought
about it and I said well why not? What have I got to lose?
We need a company name, but what?
We went to Google and looked up G Stink and variations. The closest we found was a rap
band in Prison in USA, trying to put an album together to pay for their bail.
Hmmmm! Approaching a friend in Wales for the Welsh word for Stink, we were told
DREWDOD. Drewdod is the Welsh word for stink.
Drewdod Promotions was underway!
The journey began!
I was absolutely scared of failing and I had no clue that I could even achieve something like
this!
It took months of preparation, months of asking questions and making arrangements,
months of no sleep, and an event that took shape although there weren’t many people at the
first one, the artists that were there did themselves proud!
Thanks must go to everybody that was on the inaugural journey with, and for, me, because
without the support I received, I wouldn’t have been able to achieve what I have!
